Solstice Moments

silver stars shimmer
lighting the crowning glory
enveloped in peace

the ease of the trees
holding the weight of the world
balanced with beauty

a sense of wonder
blankets the surface of all
look toward the new day

Wonderful reindeer kitsch in the first picture!
But it's true. Solstice is a very special point of the year, full of magic and the light is coming back.
A part of your poem "After the storm" reminded me of that:
When the air is clear and the wind stops blowing
The sun reappears and the earth starts glowing
A light so strong as if all knowing
Sense of wonder to explore

Doesn't that fit nicely? Have a lightfull solstice, my friend! :)

These photos are especially relevant with the snow that is ravaging through the north east.

Happy Winter Solstice. Stay warm, dry, and safe!

The christmases of childhood story books. Would you believe it, it's sizzling here today.

All heaven and earth
Flowered white obliterate ....
Snow .... unceasing snow.

The antlered animal at the bottom is a RED DEER, appropriate for the season!

I just love pics of cold anything at this time of the year! We're all melting away here and headed for the pool to cool off and it's after 10pm!

Beautiful photos Seth. Looking at your photos in reverse order - life as it is,the reality, a special moment (a snowfall) and magic can come into our lives (the silver and the blue) to transform the mundane. One just has to know where to look, to find the magic, the ordinary taking on a new mantle. Thank you for a thought provoking post. Season's Greetings.

Happy Winter Solstice to you Seth. Your poetry is so lean in words and so strong in metaphors for living in a winter's moment. The white light and crisp winter trees seem to say be at Peace with those you love. When I was small growing up in Louisville ,Kentucky the Dixie Manor shopping center would "import" real reindeer for children to have their photos taken. We never had enough money for the $5.00 fee per child in the 1960's but the kind gentleman would let me feed the reindeer fresh apples and carrot strips. Who needs a picture when my heart will forever carry this holiday memory. Where did you find this wonderful reindeer? Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

I would like to recommend that you feature Shona of An Artful Life from www.shonastudio.blogspot.com at some point.

She is an artist on call with Sommerset and has a book coming out in March called The Artistic Mother which is being published by North Light Books. The book will help mothers fit their art in around their families. The book is available for preorder on Amazon. She is a very talented artist.
